Ideal’s commitment to minimise and reduce environmental impact is an important part of every decision we make. We believe in a responsible approach to product development, manufacture and supply; through intelligent formulation, reduced energy consumption, alternative packaging solutions and recycling.
We only use surfactants that are carefully sourced to comply with OECD tests for biodegradability.
We are focused on the development of new eco products and continuously review and revise formulations to limit the use of surfactants that might be considered dangerous to the environment or marine life.
Ideal has made it company policy to use recycled/reconditioned pallets.
We use reconditioned plastic drums from an approved supplier, wherever possible.
BELIEVE IN BULK
We believe in replacing standard packaging options with recycled bulk packaging to reduce ecological footprint. We promote bulk supply, allowing our customers the opportunity to purchase directly from our ISO-accredited factory in Northamptonshire, England.
We provide clear product information and up-to-date regulatory paperwork. We believe in transparency of our ingredients and our business practices and ensure that all SDS and Product Information sheets contain information relating to environmental impact.
We recommend British made, state of the art laundry dosing technology, with regular calibrating to avoid overuse of detergent – backed by training, installation and servicing. Our Powder Dosing unit is designed and built in Britain by the Ideal engineering team and enables large commercial laundries to replace multiple liquid additions with a single concentrated, fully-built powder.
WASH IT BETTER
Ideal is able to advise customers on how best to utilise chemicals with the minimum of resources. We recommend efficient, single wash processing, wherever possible and offer advice on optimising the wash process.
Ideal arranges for large drums and containers to be collected monthly and recycled by an accredited waste company.
14001 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
We aim to meet or exceed environmental legislation. Ideal is currently gearing up for assessment to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation.
WAR ON WASTE
At Ideal HQ we aim to minimise waste by evaluating operations and making sure they are as efficient as possible. We encourage our team to contribute ideas and suggestions to help reduce waste in the factory.
We’ve recently invested in the development of a bespoke DAF water treatment plant to reduce environmental impact.
We’re committed to green office initiatives and recycling. Our wonderful office team collect used stamps and toner cartridges for good causes.
FILL CLEAN REPEAT
By creating the FILL range and on-site refills we are seeking to manufacture, refill and distribute eco, efficient and affordable cleaning products for domestic and commercial markets. We aim to promote recycling among our customers and suppliers by producing products that look cool, work great and reduce waste.
We’ve made a decision to be closely involved with greener technologies such as wet cleaning in place of less eco-responsible alternatives.
RECYCLED PRINT MATERIALS
We’re reducing the amount of paper in the office with new IT systems. Information and guides are now downloadable from this site. When we do produce printed marketing materials, we use recycled paper and make sure they look great. Our illustrated laundry riso prints are printed on recycled paper using soy based inks.
We actively formulate, manufacture and promote new products that minimise environmental impact. For example, our top selling product for commercial laundry is an eco detergent powder, suitable for low temperature washing. It replaces the need for multiple liquid additions in commercial laundry and won Product of the Year at the 2016 Laundry & Dry Cleaning Awards.
We are currently undergoing testing for EU Ecolabel accreditation for a selection of products, and continue to design new products that meet this standard.
RECHARGEABLE PALLET LIFTERS
We’ve swapped forklifts for electric rechargeable pallet lifters inside our warehouse to create a cleaner, safer and more eco friendly environment.
A new set of skylights across the roof of our production area and warehouse have reduced the need to use electric lighting on-site.
MADE IN BRITAIN
We believe in supporting local suppliers, which is why we look to source raw materials and packaging from the UK and Europe wherever possible.
