Here at Ideal, we’re always trying to do better. An independent, family-run British manufacturer, with the freedom to create products that don’t just work – we make them to a higher set of principles.
This year, we’re real proud to share our recent B Corp recertification. Our new score of 119.6 places us among the highest-ranked companies in our sector globally! It’s proof that high-performance chemistry and social responsibility are now inseparable.
The March issue of Laundry and Cleaning Today asked us what’s in store for 2026. For us, the answer lies in the lab, where the technical team leverages decades of experience to give sustainable product development a more rigorous theoretical grounding.
By mapping out the specific “solubility signatures” of different stains, we’ve successfully matched and improved upon the performance of old-school, hazardous chemicals with modern, safer alternatives. We’ve relied on theory-led design to ensure that “green” detergent chemistry does the job just as well as the legacy formulations – proving that you don’t need toxic solvents to get professional results.
This approach has allowed us to overhaul our whole professional spotting range. We’ve made it a priority to remove harsh ingredients like ammonia and the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that used to make laundry rooms smell like a chemistry set from the 1970s! The result is a set of reformulated spotters that are significantly cleaner for the operator, the fabric, and the environment:
-
211 PRO STAIN REMOVER Now VOC-free and low-odour, yet specifically engineered to solubilise oils, paints, and inks.
-
525 BIO STAIN REMOVER & 526 FOOD STAIN REMOVER The new specialists for proteins, tannins & the dreaded “collar and cuff” grease!
-
022 BLACK MARK REMOVER: A neutral-pH, ultra-low hazard formulation for those “unlaunderable” engine oil and soot stains.
IT’S HIP TO BE CIRCULAR

Innovation isn’t just about what’s inside the bottle; it’s about the bottle itself. We’ve made it our mission to eliminate single-use plastic waste from the supply chain. While the laundry sector still has a way to go, we know it can be done.
Our Fill Pro range has brought RETURN FOR REFILL professional products to hospitality businesses nationwide over the last year, and it serves as our blueprint for the laundry sector’s future. As distributors and laundries prepare for Q2 of 2026, they will increasingly rely on closed-loop models to manage the costs associated with the enforcement of EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) rules. Product makers have a central role to play in making this logistics model work for everyone. We’ve been doing it for ages!
We’re still in Finedon, still family-run, and still focused on Brighter Laundry, making the most responsible laundry products around.
